Hello all,
I recently found a small metal vial with cork still inside. When I popped the cork out, the vial was empty but the cork had a purplish residue on it. I found the vial at an old mining community, within a house or hotel foundation (I’m thinking hotel or house because of the many broken dishes, glasses, and beef bones). The small community dates back to the late 1800’s. I think the metal is copper that might be oxidizing, there doesn’t appear to be any markings. Any suggestion what it might be or held?

Thanks for the diagram Geez, my vial or blasting cap is larger all around then the other blasting caps I've seen from that era, its almost double the size of the one in the diagram. I'll keep digging around the internet and see what i come up with. Thanks for the help

Why would a blasting cap have purplish residue? :?:
