Okay, I found a few of these yesterday in a known Civil War spot and I need help. I found a pistol ball and 2, 3 ringers within 10ft of these. The other bullets had your typical white patina and this one did not. I initially thought it was a .44 Colt but the nose seems too rounded. I came home and checked the M&M book and these are overweight, about 215 grains. That seems to be in line with a .44 Henry but it doesn’t have the step down for the casing. Is this modern or what do I have? It’s definitely fired as you can see the rifling on the bottom. Thanks for any help.
215 grains
.446 base
.656 length

I think you are right now that I look at it closer. I’ll keep looking. I may have to go get my book tomorrow. It may be more modern. But it seems like I have seen a civi war bullet like that before.
