A few weeks ago I was talking with one of the ladies from where I do some volunteer work. When I learned that she was interested in finding out what was in the ground around her house, I volunteered my assistance. At the time, I had no idea where she lived. When I found out just where it was, I could barely believe it. Suffice it to say that it is very likely the most significant site I will ever have the opportunity to visit. I've had 3 good hunts there. The first time there, in less than 5 minutes, I dug the first target---a U.S. Belt plate with arrowhead hooks. The first thing I dug (where do you go from there?). I've gotten a really nice assortment of bullets including a couple of 69 cal., a cleaner (without the bottom base), a pulled/wormed bullet, a 44 cal revolver, a 36 cal revolver, a round ball, and a fired round ball (my first one). Notice the one flattened bullet (maybe a game piece?) I've also gotten 2 axe heads. Also a couple of really nice coins---an 1856 Seated Liberty dime and a 1900 "O" Barber quarter. First 3 pics are from hunt #1. The next 3 pics are from hunt #2. The next pic is a combo of some items from #1 and #2. The last pics are from yesterday's hunt. A really nice NY State Seal Excelsior Button, more bullets, 2 more button backs and 1 front, and all the other stuff you dig. Those couple of pics of that iron object, I don't know what it is. I've already had a lot of "firsts" at her property---the 69's, the coins, the revolver bullets, the NY button, the pulled bullet and the cleaner. When you take in to factor that all of this (except 2 of the bullets) came out of just a relatively small portion of the front yard, it is incredible. There are a few acres. I feel extremely lucky to have this opportunity. Can't wait to go back again. Sorry that the pics are not the best. Everything is being given to the landowner, so I don't have a chance to get really good ones. I want to help her get a nice display. I think she is going to have a really nice one.

Very nice finds! And giving it all back to the land owner is awesome. The NY has a nice patina & The US buckle is very cool, but If I had to pick one thing as the rarest find, it would probably be the Savage pistol bullet. You just don't see those very often. I've never dug one. Great digs once again.

Yes, I like both revolver bullets. I had never seen a 36 cal Savage until yesterday. According to the homeowner's research, only 20,000 of those revolvers were made between 1861-1862.

Went back out this morning. 2nd pic is a nice U.S. Navy button. The last pic is of the bullets I have dug from this spot so far.
