Got done with work early today so I stopped by the old park I've pounded for the last 4 years. Didn't really plan on digging anything good but I was mistaken.
I came across one nice higher tone that was being halfway masked by what I'm sure was junk. At only 4" down was a nice 1903 Barber dime!

Nice find. Your story is almost identical to what I did yesterday, except that my dime was a Merc. Always fun to pull out one more coin from our pounded parks.
