Winter is almost here, and this weekend it looks like I might be able to get out and play before the ground is frozen and I have to hang it up for the year.
I want to hit new places, just to hopefully leave a sweet flavor in my mouth while I wait for spring. With deer season on I want to keep out of the woods, close to the road.
So I picked out an 1870-present cemetery. Not the actual skull orchard itself, but what used to be the parking lot and has returned to the forest .
A 1900 school, I drove past this spot a thousand times before I knew there was a school there. All I know is its locatiin, and that It was abandoned in 1927
And last, the end of a road at a small lake. About 150 yards off of a logging railroad that was abandoned in 1910. The other side of the railroad was a logging camp deserted in 1927. The only water hole in the 5 mile stretch between two ghost towns. And it also lies very closely between what I believe to be two large old (1913-1970?) military training ranges.
