We got out today & got into some big bullets. I dug three carved bullets today. I've found some at this spot every time we hunt it. I as also found a couple more of those .577" sharps rifle bullets. Thanks for looking. HH

Some nice finds there. I love digging those .69s. That last bullet kind of looks like he got it hot enough to make it soft.

Thanks guys I try. I don't know about that carved .69" minie. He might have heated it up. Who knows. I know we find carved bullets there just about every time we dig there. I think they had bad nerves. HH

you were definitely dialed in for the big bullets today buddy

That G2 with Big NEL coil got the job done in that bad dirt

One of those big sharps I dug yesterday looks a little different. It has a hole in the base. I don't know if its a casting flaw or if its a explosive bullet. It looks the same as the others that I've dug there but I don't know. What do you guys think? The bottom picture is of a couple Gardiner explosive bullets that I've dug.

Nice digs buddy. You did well on the .69s. I've dug a few Sharps that had cavities in the base like that, but not sure they were .58s. I think all my Sharps have been .54s.

The last one looks like it was placed on a hot surface and it started to melt from the base. Pretty cool man.

It's not a 58 cal buddy. The two bullets together are for reference of the patina.

Very interesting post , Walking out of that hunt with very heavy pockets .
Thanks for sharing and the history lesson .

How do you get on the featured threads? I've found some good stuff & never got that. Who on here has ever dug Gardiner explosive bullets?

It is up to the moderators to decide which posts are the most interesting.
Unfortunately, about half of the country will never find a CW relic, so a lot of people have no interest (I do, even though I will never dig one here), I was not aware that they even had explosive bullets during the Civil War, so thanks for sharing that.
