Smile Old brass insignia?

Hi,

I found this in North Carolina. I know it is brass I just have no idea what it is. I also found some civil war bullets near by. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks and HH..

(Next to a modern quarter for size perspective)

Looks like a pin or a brooch with the pin piece broken off.

Thanks, I can actually make out a little section on the back that looks like a pin may have broken off. Could be an old brass pin... I was hoping it had some military ties but I can't seem to find any symbols that resemble this one

A post earring the size of a quarter?? I doubt it. I agree that it's more likely a brooch as stated previously.
