ring marking I am not familiar with.

Evening all,

I found a nice signit ring, but expect it is plated because it came out of the ground dirty and dull. When I cleaned it, I saw a marking on the inside band that red "14k gold sh" or "14K gold sa". i cant seem to find anything online to figure out what these last two letters might mean.

Any ideas?

I'll post pictures if needed, but its not much to look at and I wont be able to get the markings due to small size.

Is it magnetic?
You could scratch a small area and see if the underlying metal is a different color.
Take to a jeweler for testing?

Letters could be a markers mark... a picture of the ring would help.

Sorry for the delay. Tonight was the first night I had a few moments.

Here is a couple thoughts and then the pics in whatever order they load. It had a glint of gold when i dug it, but was dull. I expected gold to be shiny and clean, but I have never dug gold so I have no idea. I have a close up of the mark. To the right of the gold is has the letter S and half a letter that is either H or A.

It does has some weight to it. It rang a solid 82 on deus fast, in wet soil rang exactly like a zincoln.

14K gold shell...

Sorry to say, but most times there are letters AFTER the K, you are SOL...

Keep on it, never know, next one might be the real deal!

It would have said 1/20 14kt
Gold plated. Heres mine
It says 1/20 10kt EPG(electro plated gold)

It almost looks like “S8”....as in,Size 8? Gold can look very odd,especially if it is ornate like that. If it looks like there is any base metal or “flakes” coming off it,you’re done. Very interesting though,good find!

Nothing wrong with having some hope..

But by how this looks, and that I've found rings with the same marks, you have a plated brass ring..

Looks plated to me... I thought that after seeing this picture.. Gold does not come out of the ground like that...
