At least I wasn’t skunked!

Started out the day by heading to a couple places I had researched. First home I went to was built in the mid 1800s and was now owned by the city. Unfortunately the ground had been covered with about a foot of red dirt and some weird plastic sprinkler system (or something) that covered literally all the ground right beneath the grass. So I left there with nothing went on to the next place. It was also filled with dirt and I was pulling up nothing but modern trash. I figured the day would be a bust so I started heading back to the house then I remembered a lot I had passed about a mile away that was across from a turn of the century home. I decided to turn around and see if it would even be worth detecting. Needless to say I detected it and while I didn’t find anything crazy, I also didn’t end up skunked. I found a Ford Model T hub cap, Sterling Silver Pendant, Liberty Nickel, Jefferson War Nickel, 9 Wheaties, Whyte Fox Ointment Token, Sales Tax Token, and some other neat little finds. None of it is in very good condition but you take what you can get! Hope everyone has a great day!

Congrats on being able to save the day with some nice finds. Love that token and the newspaper background for your photos.

Great finds! I too like the old newspaper background. The Lady Agents undergarments ad is hilarious. What's the date on the newspaper? The Ford pieces are fantastic - I'm sure there's a market for those. Congrats!

Heck no where near skunked, I'd say that was a great mixed bag hunt. Congrats on all the cool finds. Nice lay out and story as well. HH Mark

That's quite an assortment of cool stuff! You never know what's in the ground until you check it. A location that looks non-productive could be the opposite! My current home sits on 2.5 acres, with a lot of history. I could spend weeks digging targets right here, but I get tired of it and just keep looking for silver. Just now started digging some gold TID's. Honestly, my yard looks like gophers have invaded it, some days! HH!

Fantastic saves! Love the token, sterling, silver, hub cap and more! Excellent!

Thankyou GroundSweeper!

Thanks Dirty Nails! The newspaper actually is a paper baggy I got from a antique shop when buying some goodies a while back.

Thankyou Markinswpa!

Super nice finds!! Love the Ford piece.

Me too coin pirate! I’d never dug one before.

Haha that’s awesome! I did my grandmothers property like that as well. So much good stuff mixed with a ton of trash from hurricanes! Never know what you will dig out!

good show !

Thank you Tom!

Great finds and nice pictures, I'm gonna have to borrow the vintage newspaper idea for my finds :D

Thanks PrussianBleu! I was just looking for a background other than paper towels and that’s what came to mind. Haha

I also found a few more goodies to add to this post. I stopped at a late 1600s lot and all I found was a little button but I couldn’t see anything on it to Id it. I then went back to the lot I found the items from yesterday and ended up finding another silver war nickel, 2 more wheaties, and a lighter from the 50s.

Some more nice finds, the war nickel, old lighter, what appears to be a flattened aluminum measuring cup. I guess that spigot handle is too small for that keg spigot you found. Congrats again.

Oh wow I didn’t even put 2 and 2 together with the handle and the spigot. 2 completely separate holes. Being the spigot is broke and missing pieces I guess we will never know but if I had to guess I’d say they went together like the pic below. Thanks again ecmo!
