Found these today around a very old county store site. I originally thought that they were just lead blobs. But were suprized to find out they were very old fired sabots. The back rim is almost dime sized. Actually, the dime will lay inside of the back rim on the flatter one. I figure that impact deformation could cause them to have expanded somewhat. Still I wonder what might have fired these beasts. The store ceased operation in 1947 and is gone. I have found a lot of workwear brass buttons, Indian head cents, wheats, buffalo nickles, and such. The site is also civil war related. 100_2085.jpg

Look like shotgun slugs, the right one of the brenneke type. Neither is a saboted slug or a sabot. Dime sized would correspond to a 12 gauge slug. Weight (if intact) would be about 1 ounce.
