Hi guys I picked up an Excalibur and plan on using it mainly for wading in the water up to my chest. Probably use the Equinox in the dry sand. So that being said is an over and under better to swing in the water then a long shaft or vise versa? Thanks guys.

I like pod under my arm. Seems I have better coil control in the water.. Feels like the shaft is just a extension of my arm?... Others may differ.

When i bought my Xcal i ordered a straight shaft that put the pod under my elbow. Balances the machine and makes it much easier to swing in the water and on the sand.

The snake coil is another of Minelabs not so good ideas.

this is the toggle I used for years, good if you like to hunt in both PP and disc...very dependable, just epoxy the 4 small rivits on top for best results, protect.

Im the odd ball out. I prefer my pod 4" behind the elbow. It created better balance in an out of the water to me. But more importantly .... in the water it kept the pods out of it most of the time. Salt water is a killer and i felt i was doing less repairs with the machine NOT being in the water as much. ANYTHING rubber you really need to lube and watch. The Xcals have always had an issue with the cable.... grease um up.... as well as those O rings. DONT use a lot of pressure when rinsing them off.... like a garden hose.

Straight 3 piece carbon fiber travel shaft behind the elbow mount and use a knob protector. Get a remote pin point mod... DONE! If you're gutsy, get a coil cable water proof connector ( like the CTX 3030 type) and wire up different size coils. Large coil for the wet sand and stock size for the water. I had my female connector hard wired at the end cap but you could go farther down if you chose for convenience.
ALWAYS hunt in PP and switch over to discrim to verify. ALWAYS listen to those threshold breaks too.

Hi,
if you only need carbon tubes for the shaft - you can take a look here https://www.ebay.com/itm/254399638139
I like it when the block is hung under the elbow (but not 2 floors  )
