Ca. Gold Rush what’s it!?

Found this one recently. Has some familiar markings but can’t quite figure it out. Lettering is missing but can see an RES..... It is holed like a pendant or coin..... and has some reeded type markings. Anybody want to take a crack at this one?

Looks like a piece of an old key fob. I know I have found ones like it before but can't find a photo.

Looks a little like a railroad hat badge to me. Maybe it was for a person on the "rescue" staff ( looks like the letters R E & S to me).

Could be. I haven’t found any key fobs in gold rush sites. But this site could have later 1800’s debris too...
