Possible Indian Carved Rock?

I found this rock in the middle of the woods about 15 years ago when I was a lot younger. I though it was pretty neat so I brought it home and have stored it ever since. I now know there is a lot of history of Indians in the area so it makes me wonder if this was possibly carved by them. I’m no rock expert so I don’t know what kind of rock it is and I do not see it in this area naturally. It’s somewhat porous and has a small hole with a dead stick lodged in it. If it is in fact a carved rock I have no idea what use it would have so I would love to hear some thoughts and opinions.

First off I have NO IDEA on your questions

but..

It almost looks like the hole with the dead stick in it could of been used for starting fires (you know like rubbing sticks together) to hold the main drill point in place..

Just a thought..

Interesting rock, but the impression was probably caused by water dripping on it.

Edited: OR...it could be some kind of Indian war club.

Haha yeah that is very possible that the impression was carved by water I’m not ruling that out but it still seems to be a carved rock in my eyes but I could be wrong. Also like I mentioned you don’t even see this type of rock naturally in this area so it would have had to travelled somehow. Maybe I’m over thinking it but the place I found it was very well known for Indians and hasn’t had any other type of settlement since. You never know though.

An interesting aside, last year I was at an old home site and lifted up a flat rock that had a hole in it about the size of your rock's hole. There was this little snake inside of the hole. It was light colored and sort of translucent like a worm but it wasn't a worm, it was a snake. It was early April and still cold, so it had maybe hibernated in there.

In the Snake river and Columbia rivers in WA, Indians used something very similar for weights for their nets.

That’s very interesting because I’m literally surrounded by all kinds of water such as the Gulf of Mexico, bayous, rivers, and creeks all within a few miles of here so that’s a good possibility. I’m gonna look into that thanks.

Edit - this canoe weight does look quite similar. Also the net weights.
