The first time I asked permission to go on an old farm pays off. I found a 1822 large cent and a 1864 2 cent piece with my Garrett AT Pro

Wow, is that 2 cent piece made of brass or something other than copper?

The condition is incredible. Seeing that they both came out of the same type of dirt, I'm amazed how well that 2 cent has maintained it's integrity compared to the large cent.

I think 95% copper and 5% zinc

Two cent piece is made of bronze and comes out less corroded than copper almost always. It is alloyed in a way to where it will not corrode as easily. That large cent is pretty nice shape also!

Awesome 2 center. I found one about a month ago. It was a small motto and appraised for $675. Hopefully yours is a small motto as well. Great condition on yours. How did you clean it?

It's not the small motto unfortunately. I cleaned it with little water that's it. Still really nice
