I took the F70 out for a couple hours this morning at a local Middle School. About halfway through the hunt, i thought I had dug another penny but it looked different. I saw CCCP on the front and a 1940 and 10 KON on the back. I figured it was a lost show and tell project and stuck it in my pouch so I could look it up later. I continued the hunt and found a small ring that I thought was silver but has no markings, some clad and a hollow point bullet. When I got home I looked the coin up and found out it was a 10 Russian Kopek coin that may be worth a buck or two. The coin has had a long journey and has now found its final resting place.

Coming along nicely...what was the year on that coin?

Thanks Digger, It is 1940 sorry it was still wet from me washing it when I took the photo. I couldn't believe it when I saw where it came from but not the first time I have been surprised when hunting a school. Even newer schools can provide some interesting finds. I have found silver coins, foreign coins, lots of bullets (even fired ones), hypodermic needles and other things that shouldn't be there but you can never underestimate what a kid will bring to school to show his/her friends.

Wow cool old foreign coin! I wouldn't be surprised if that ring is silver, nice hunt!

I think it probably is but I am giving it to my Grandaughter and since she is 4, she won't care anyway. It always shocks me when those foreign coins show up.

Right now in Russia it costs from two to 10 dollars - depends on condition. :)
