Found a bullet today in my CW / WW1 area that has produced a confederate buckle and a WW1 US pin. Found a cartridge that appears WW1 era.
But the bullet I found appears to be a minie ball with 3 grooves. It measures nearly pwrfect 1" long and 0.5" round. I tried picking it in a CW bullet guide but no solid ID. The grooves appear machined and not the rings that protrude. Any ideas?

It's not machined it's a cast bullet, you'll need to measure it with calipers to be sure but it sounds and looks about like a fired .52 caliber Minie ball

Thank you! I unfortunately do not have tools to measure it properly until I get home. I thought it was an odd one (to me, anyway)
