Update...we have bubbles!
I have to thank you all for your example set ups and advice. I swapped out the useless smart car charger for an old phone charger. Shout out to the YouTube channel Treasuredigging.com that made it look super easy to wire, and it was. I am temporarily using binder clips until I get some real hardware clips tomorrow. I just wanted to see if it would work, and it does! Most of my iron is extremely rusty old bits like ox shoes, large square nails, etc so whether this is enough Amps to work efficiently is yet to be determined.
