Is this a real military button?

Found at an old farmhouse site; I think I found one of these at the same site before and never got it posted. The back attracts a magnet and shows rust, front looks like brass. If it's real, what era? Thanks!

Well the front looks like a military great seal button, but with the iron back I would say it is a civilian button, perhaps a blazer type.

Agree. You wouldn’t use iron back on that as a military uniform button

That great seal design is 1902 and onward.

They did use military buttons with tinned iron backs.
Some sources say around 1880's to 1920's

Argh, no wonder I got deja vu. Found a mate to this a couple years ago and posted it and forgot about it. One reply to the previous thread says the circle of stars above the eagle's head means it is non-military but if i google Great Seal button they all seem to have that. https://metaldetectingforum.com/showthread.php?t=261837

Civilian button, The wreath above the eagle has a crown in it. Not a great seal button
