need an advice.
i have the F22 from fisher.
i can turn the sensibility from 0-10.
i can't run the MD on 9 or 10.even on 8 is mostly not possible.
a forum buddy told me he can run his F22 on 10 without trouble.
i called my MD dealer an he told me to try it far away from any sources of EMI.
in the middle of nowhere i still couldn't get higher with the sensibility.
i change the concentric stock search coil sometimes with my Karma 13" DD-coil.
The 13" i have to run one number lower than the stock coil.

the 13" should give me up to 30% more depth.
but how when i am only able to run the MD on 5-6 sensibility ?
for my understanding....when i reduce 50% of sensibilty i reduce my chances of find something deep.

should i send the MD for a check or repair to the MD dealer ?

Do you and your hunting buddy hunt on the same patch of soil? If the answer is no - your soil may have a higher mineral strength and you can't run sensitivity that high.

I have not run the detector you are referring to here.

But it is common/normal ops,,,when you start using a larger sized coil than stock,,for a detector to start getting more noisy,,,even with the same settings a person normally uses with say a stock coil.

Using a larger coil,,,there are some trade offs,,but even if you have to run the bigger coil with a little less sensitivity vs stock coil,,,,a person can still expect a small increase in depth overall,,,and likely a bigger depth increase on larger than coin sized targets.

As far as you and your buds detectors,,,comparing them in the same place/site.
If one seems more noisier than the other,,with same settings,,you could switch coils and see if it is the culprit.
Could be.

Also,,remember no 2 detectors are actually carbon copies of each other,,,there will be difference here based on the tolerances in the electronics,,cabling, etc.

Considering the linear results with coil size it's external (likely) or machine itself (not likely). The biggest EMI culprit on this platform is buried power. Typically the depth is not linear to sensitivity setting. 50% sense it usually 75% of the depth. If your buddy's same model detector is quieter with the exact same coils as your in the exact same location...congrats. Your detector probably high more depth than his/hers when able to use it.
