Hey all, was woods hunting today and recovered this old fork in a dried up creek. Wooden handle with a flower looking design at both ends. Not quite sure a date range for this style? Any ideas?
Thanks!

I saw this yesterday but didn't respond because I thought surly someone more knowledgeable than I would chime in by now. Hopefully we can kick start your query off.

Wooden handled tableware was made until at least the 1940's as I have seen it several times in antique shops labled 30s and 40s. Most of what I seen had more slender handles tapering off to a narrow end at the top. So with your specimen I lean more to a somewhat earlier time because of the thicker handle and decorative metal at the end (Victorians loved making even the simplest things fancy).

Sorry I can't be of more help, I'm poor at research.

Congrats and your research looks in the ballpark as to your find. If yours is Civil war era or even shortly after it's a blessing you still have that much wood remaing to be able to see the original handle configuration.

An old one

This one is at least 5 generations old in my wifes family

The flower motif is common
