Was out the other day morel hunting...to no avail, when I came to a ravine in the woods, that was a mid century dump site. I only kept some of the more interesting things with no chips or cracks. Ranged from a half gallon wine jug to the little Colgate VETO jar, with the lid that never rusted! My favorite: the little smiling man tilt jar with a suit and monocle. Found to be a Sun-Ra Hot Dog sauce(mustard) jar, that was intended to be reused as a coin bank.
Fun stuff.

That Veto deodorant jar looks to be in very nice condition (the lid especially!).

Yes, even as late as the 40s-50s there are some bottles that are collectible. I like finding the shave cream jars, the cobalt blue Noxemas and Blue Coral wax jars, and those figural bank bottles. Not to mention the milks and Cokes.

Yes, I was surprised to see that lid come out of the dirt like that. It was quality-made, and painted on the inside, too, helping preserve it from corrosion.
