Today, I got two rolls of 50c pennies from the bank. No wheaties, but I got a couple goodies.

1959-D
1964-D, looks like it's brand new!

Rolling

I bought a box of pennies ($25) and found 5 wheaties. I also bought 5 rolls of dimes and found nothing. I bought a box of halves and found 1-1968 half. I have another box of halves coming later this week...my fingers are crossed!

I took a shot at a big name bank near where I live, which happened to be my bank as well. They made me "buy" at least $100 in half dollars if I wanted any at all because they didnt have many rolls left. But I did find a 1951-D Benny in there. So it made it worth it. Im going to go back and get the rest of the rolls before I deposit back the half dollars I have left over. Long story short - give big banks a try too!

What's special about pennies before 1965?

Pre-1982 Pennies are 95% copper...

P.S. Not trying to be a smarty, just trying to see where you are going with it.

It's probably time to start diverting those 1982 or older Lincoln cents now, while you can still find them. I have started to do that.
