Hatchet?

This one was 11 to 12 inches deep, in my local park. Looks like a hatchet head, but has no "eye" for a handle to go through. It has a hammer head on one end, a straight taper, even on both sides, all the way from end to end. There is one through hole, you can see in the pics. Is this some kind of hatchet head, or hammer/wedge, or what? Googly no helpy so far...

The dime is a '56 Rosy I scored today too. :D

Wedge. Looks like the type used in a saw mill to keep the kerf open.
 
Looks more like a tip to a spud bar than a felling/bucking wedge to me...

I'm extremely familiar to spuds and felling wedges...

No, I'm pretty certain it's a felling/bucking wedge. It is exactly right for that, but not exactly right for a spud bar tip.
A light duty one that hasn't been used much, but very similar to many like these:

I have a couple out in the shop just like it. Came from the local saw mill.
