Iron object found near old barn

I hunted next to my barns this morning and found this old iron piece that I am not exactly sure what it is.

Anyone have any idea, possibly used in the construction of the barns?

gate opener for maneure spreader is my guess

I doubt construction per se, but more likely cattle stanchion headgate. Actually my first thought was part off a cattle de-horner, but I don't think so.

Or yes, it could be off some of the machinery.

Looks to be a brake gear, maybe for an old hay rake or wagon.
