Just a wild guess...part of a bomb like you eluded to, or maybe an ornamental cap piece for an old iron fence?

Thanks so much for your quick replies and suggestions.I will try to describe this the best I can.It appears to be a machined piece of cast iron/steel,it looks like it screws together,(2-3pieces) the tip is of a non rusting type metal that looks spring loaded. The 3 holes on the side??? There appears to be some type of carbonate material in the center,(underside). This item shows no outwardsigns of wear like it was cutting anything, why the unusual tip?II'm thinking like any type of part that's been manufactured,I surely should be able to come up with an exact example of another like it.I have found online very similar looking tips for ww2 Japanese bombs, however they looked to be made of brass.Still searching, thanks again.
