Logging camp items ID?

I dug up these items near what I believe was an old logging camp. One looks like some sort of wedge but has a hole in it. I have no clue what the other item is? I also found 8 horse shoes in the same general area

Wedge used behind the saw to keep the kerf open. Cord through the hole to retrieve it.

They call that a felling wedge. Cool find!
