I had one of my most productive land hunts ever, yesterday! I haven't been able to detect much lately (busy, busy weekends, extreme temps, and a drowned Nox), but Saturday I decided I was going out while my son was in his martial arts class. Boy, am I glad that I did!

I went to a local elementary school that has been good to me, over the years, expecting a few coins and not much else. However, in the tot lot I found the child's adjustable ring, as well as the large, chunky, black CTR ring and several pennies. The CTR ring (Choose The Right - a reminder commonly used on Mormon faith rings) is size 10.5, very wide, and weighs almost an ounce!

Happy with my haul, I figured I'd go to the field and see what was out there. Right away I started hitting dimes and quarters, which made the grass worth it. Working my way to the back side of the field, I found my self in an area that looked to be old chain link. I hit what I expected to be a pull tab, and decided to dig it anyway. Out popped two rings! Once seems to be brass with lettering cut into the top (I purchased one in Mexico like this years ago, where the artisan used a coping saw and cut letters into the ring right in front of me), and the other some sort of silvery metal with a pierced heart and some sort of "stones" on the band.

A few more coins, and it was time to pick up my son. What a fun outing after being away from detecting for many weeks!
