Found a whole roll of pennies in a hole a couple weeks ago. After separating them I ended up with 32 wheats ranging from 1925 to 1958. The other 18 were from 1959 to 1962. It’s going to be hard for me to beat that for the most wheats in one hole!

Yeah I don’t know how someone could lose a whole roll of pennies without noticing it! It was found right in the middle of a small neighborhood park so maybe people were sitting around playing penny poker and someone left it there? It was about 6 inches down and the ground there is kinda muddy.

Perhaps someone nicked a roll and needed to get rid of it in a hurry.

I like that pix of the pennies all still fused together. Good show !

Looks like a dropped roll for sure, maybe someone was on the way to the bank to cash their coins in o r coming from the bank with change for a concession stand or something similar. Cool find. You guys are doing great up there . Good luck, Mark

Thanks Mark. Most all of the paper sleeve was gone just a few traces of the rolled crimp on one end.

Thanks Tom in Ca. It was quite a messy job cleaning them! Soaked them in olive oil for awhile first then used an small razor knife to separate them.

Looks like a lost/buried roll!

I found about 50 pennies in my front yard from a single hole. I think the final count was 48 or 49, but they were all Zincolns!

Yeah I was surprised to see most were wheats! Probably won’t find that many again in one hole. Maybe the next time it will be a roll of Mercs or Barbers! You never know! That’s what makes this hobby fun!

Nice find! Cant recall anyone finding a roll of anything before.

I once found a roll of quarters, there were all 1776-1976 bicentennials. Yeah, I wished they were silver, but no.
HH everyone

When I was about 10 yrs old, (1960s) I learned from the older boys that a roll of pennies in a clenched fist gave your punches some wallop in a fight.. and some of the boys kept a roll in their pocket at times just for that purpose...
