I made it back to the farm and did some more detecting in the front yard of the farmhouse. Below are the results from the last few days. I did much better on this trip than on the first trip, when my only notable find was a 1943 P war nickel.

#1: 1897 Indian Head cent - It was a solid "18" signal on the Vanquish 440 and about 4-6" down. This is my first IHC and first 1800s coin.

#2: 1907 P Barber dime - Very bouncy signal, probably because it was slightly on edge. This is my first Barber dime, and I think it is in pretty good condition.

I will be going back to the farm sometime in August, so more to come.

Very crisp Barber, one of the nicer one's I've seen posted. Congrats on the save and your first Ihp as well. Next to a silver coin an Ihp is my favorite find. Hopefully your next trip will produce some more goodies. Good luck, Mark

There were more signals around the spot where I found the Barber dime, but I didn't have time to investigate them. I will be going back on Sunday and should have a few hours to detect. Excited to see what turns up!

Beautiful barber you found there, very nice detail. Congratulations.

They must-have lost the Barber shortly after it was put in circulation. Congrats on a fine coin.

Yep, it clearly didn't see much circulation before its prolonged dirt nap. The question is... if I can find a lightly circulated Barber coin, could I find a worn Seated Liberty coin? Now that would be cool!

I detected for 3-4 hours today at the farmhouse, and I managed to find my first Liberty Head nickel--a 1906. It was a couple feet away from where I found the 1907 Barber dime, and it was only 2-3" deep. Not bad!

Awesome finds! That's the prettiest Barber dime I've seen in quite a while, and V nickels are few and far between. Looks like you've got a good spot - no doubt there's more keepers waiting for you there.

Thanks--I went in with low expectations, and I have been pleasantly surprised with what I have found. I am going back to the farm tomorrow for a few days and will be putting in some more hours detecting. I'll make an update post if I find anything else.
