These look familiar but can’t figure it out

I was in a colonial field and found these today. They came up in an area where there were colonial coppers and colonial buttons. They are about two inches long and beep a 16 on the equinox so I assume they are brass. They look familiar but I can’t put my finger on what they are. Any help would be appreciated.

Possibly the.. what are they called? clappers? from bells, where they wore out and the loop at the top broke.

I think that's a good id on that!

They may have been on the conestoga bells. Those bells had an iron loop for attachment. One reason at least you don't see the with the bells.

Looks like that’s probably what they are. I did find a few ox knobs as well so that would makes sense. Thanks everyone for the ID
