Went detecting at an old grade school today, and was detecting by a very old volleyball court. There were lots of weeds that were snagging my coil & I was getting frustrated. So I slowed down and really started paying attention to the signals my MXT were sending me. Soon I got a solid, repeating 18 - 20 and 3" down lay this dead buffalo nickel. I still got excited because it is only the 3rd Buffalo I've ever found with a detector. It is not worn but weathered almost beyond recognition. The date has weathered off and its in pretty bad shape. But I'd rather find this than spend the day finding only clad!

Nice find for sure. I still have a "V" nickel I found over 30 years ago but never have found a buff...

Thank everyone for the great comments! Gonna try & clean this Buffalo up a little more

I have used apple cider vinegar and a real fine steel wool with great result. Here is a before and after.
