Yesterday ,I hunted an old abandoned farm that I've been given permission to hunt. I dug this DSC04429.jpg I thought it to be a little weird to put a heart on a piece that I thought might have been a piece of horse tack. I'm finding all sorts of rivets, leather pieces with rivets in that immediate area, thinking it was a horse tack repair shed there or something, a lot of shoes as well and a ton of nails like a structure was once there. It was identified as a civil war heart horse bridle rosette. I had no idea, was thinking my barber find was the find of the day.

That type of Martingale heart is often associated with Southern Troops in the Civil War. It was not Confederate issue; rather, civilian type found almost exclusively in the Southern States. I found one at a Confederate Campsite in the 1980s.
