found a copper case with grande dutchesse love paris on it in a sheild engraved it is only 1 and half inch round and three eights thick hinge sealed shut but has a little weight for its size if anyone has an idea your wisdom would be greatly appreciated thank you
 
Sound like a woman's makeup compact.....

A picture as mentioned would help....

Heavy? Like it has silver coins inside???:shock:

I Have a few I want to check. The problem I have is what to soak them in to get them to loosen up. I know CLR will work but on brass it takes the the other metals out and leaves the copper,thus ruining the look of them.

I bust all mine open like a stubborn pistachio shell and toss en in my brass scrap bucket...

There are plenty of really nice old sterling silver ones that sold for $40 on fee bay...

So far, all of mine have been screwed up brass with the latch spring and hinge pin rusted up.. With these items condition is not all, its everything..

I have a feeling, we'll both know when we have one we need to be careful with..

Yeah the hinge is always a problem and even in nice condition most aren't worth much.
 
i tried cleaning it a bit

i know your not suppose too.But was looking at shield and it had flowers on it got out some brasso started rubbing well the words come a brass or gold color the rest still looks copper though. ps camera broke but will post pic tomorrow
