Just setup ssl on he server, you can now use https://metaldetectingforum.com if you wish.

What it does is encrypts the connection between you and the forum.

If everything seem to work OK I will switch to https and disable http after a couple of months.

SSL is an acronym for Secure Sockets Layer, an encryption technology that was created by Netscape. SSL creates an encrypted connection between your web server and your visitors' web browser allowing for private information to be transmitted without the problems of eavesdropping, data tampering, or message forgery.

Now, you just need to update the links in the forum post sumaries you send out as emails when we subscribe
