I found these in the woods where an old 1800’s wagon road runs through. They were not found anywhere near each other. VDI was jumping around a lot between 64-76 on the Garrett AT Max. Anybody have a clue? I know they look blue green under the brown but it’s just the picture. They are white.

After a bit of research I think I have learned that lead can look white. Lead also has the right VDI. Am I right? Sorry, still learning. But I still have no idea what these could be

Edit: I think they are shotgun slugs. Can anybody confirm this for me?

If it is lead then the metal will be soft enough to make a little gouge mark with a little knife or chisel or flat screwdriver. If the underlying metal is shiny then it is lead. 12 gauge shotgun slugs are bigger than that so maybe you have smaller caliber bullets.

Thank you Bank Fisher. I took a knife to them and it did leave a nice shiny gouge mark. Definitely lead. Maybe the smaller ones are just fragments of a slug. Learning new things everyday. I love this forum.

Do you have anything to measure them? I just got my first "buck and ball" combos yesterday and it's a .69 Cal ball with .31 buck. Your measurement will be off with the deformaties but it could give you an idea.

I don’t know much about bullets and I wouldn’t know what the measurements mean. I took a picture with them next to a ruler. What do you think?

It could be buck and ball. The .69 and .31 refer to tenths of an inch. Like I said the measurements will need to be ballparked because your items are mashed. But you look to be in track for it.

They are musket balls. Smaller ones could be from a pistol. The larger one looks to be about .36 caliber. I have found three of these lately myself. Old lead turns white in the ground. Newer lead has something mixed in and it does not turn white in the ground. Keep on looking, there may be more.
