I found 5 or 6 of these all in one small area. 73 on AT Pro. I First thought they were old electrical box knockouts, and may be but seem to be soft metal, concave, smooth on one side and rough textured on the other. What made me think again was a flat button I found in same area. It’s back stamp says “Warranted Rich Orange”. It may date to pre 1848. Most of this site is 1910’s and 20’s.
Thanks for any thoughts

If they are magnetic I’d think that would rule out electrical knock outs. I’ve only seen steel knockouts. Not an electrical though so could be wrong.

Regarding the "knockouts," I found what I thought was a knockout at a mid 19th century site once. Wasn't quite convinced as it shouldn't have been there and was pretty crumbly but not rusty. It was about the size of a half dollar. Cleaned it up and raised a seated liberty and realized that what I had was a counterfeit half dollar made out of pewter. Not saying that is what you have, but that's what I had! Funny thing is that in my 4ish years of detecting, I've found 2 Indian heads and 4 large cents, 3 gold gilted buttons, and a counterfeit silver, but never a single REAL silver of any age!

I have found a couple items that seem to be similar. Smooth and polished on one side and rough and gritty on the other. I can’t remember how I came to this conclusion but I ultimately came to think of them as bridle rosettes.
