Pretty small for a one hitter...at least thats what the neighbor kid told me..
.perhaps the location where you found it will give you a clue? Is it a part off of a musical instrument?

Now there's a bunch of stoner metal detectorists who just realized that a sterling "Bat" is what's been missing from their lives all these years...
Agreed. I can't see the end of it, but if it is the same size all the way to the end, it could also have been a part of a dip pen - the pen nib would have gone in the right-side (in the picture) end.
