Or at least the top bar of one but I don't think it was military or .gov issued. Maybe a club medal?

That wild guess is based on the fabric on the back that goes under a bar and is pinched in at the top. It's bent so the shape is a little off in the picture.

It was found at the site of a house that was leveled about 80 years ago.

Any ideas?

Thanks! I don't know why it didn't occur to me that the part folded over the fabric was bent too.

I just find it amazing that scrap of fabric would remain after 80 years.

Barely. It tried to wash away so I had to be careful getting the dirt off.
