I dug both of these within a foot from each other on a campsite used by Confederates (61-62) and Union (63-65). I have about eight more federal buttons from this site but this (the button on the left) is the first flat eagle button I have found.
I am thinking that it may be from a hat ... or, possibly, a later era.
Any help will be appreciated.
