I found this bullet on a hill over looking a river ford dating back to 1800. Could it be a musket mini ball or is it just a modern lead slug? I weighs a hefty 520 grains. I hope the picture are ok. Thanks!

Looks like a modern shotgun slug. The pattern on the outside (right picture) is a common one for a rifled slug.

OP, you might do some research with regards to Pritchett style bullets like were used in Pattern 1853 Enfields. Weight could be close, though yours would be slightly under non fired versions, of course. But they were hollow based, or plugged, with no lube rings and could potentially splat like yours on hard surfaces. I'll offer that with a caveat of I ain't an expert and don't play one on tv. Lol.

I did look at some Pritchett style Enfield bullets and they do look similar. The weight is just about right. The only thing is that there is no letter mark inside the bullet or it could have been mashed out.
