I'm curious if anyone here has any suggestions for metal detecting reference books. I just purchased a copy of Alphaeus Albert's, "Record of American Uniform and Historical Buttons" to help with identifying all the navy buttons I've been finding lately. Are there any other books that might prove to be helpful with identifying your finds?

Little late seeing this. Below are the best books I know of for reference.

1. Uniform Buttons of the United States 1776-1865 by Warren K. Tice

2. American Military Belt Plates by Michael J. O'Donnell & J. Duncan Campbell

3. Cherrypickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties of United States Coins, both Vol. 1 and Vol. II by Bill Faviz & J. T. Stanton

4. Standard Catalog of United States Tokens 1700-1900 by Russell Rulau

5. Standard Catalog of World Coins (five different books split into five time periods)

6. The Official Overstreet Indian Arrowheads Identification and Price Guide
