Hey gang, I only got out for a couple of hunts this week. With the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow, I will be busy through the weekend so I won't be able to hunt for a while at all. I went up to a turn of the century park, and dug some good stuff. I dug my 500th silver coin of the year, and it was a pretty good one. A 1912 sharp Barber quarter. 500 silver coins is a pretty good mark for this generation of detecting, and not to mention with the bad winter weather we get here in Western NY with the lake effect snow and cold temperatures, it limits my time detecting during the winter weather months. So 500 is a pretty good mark for me. I dug a dime trifecta on one of the hunts and I also dug some nice Buffalo nickels, both with readable dates of 1919, and the one even has a mint mark. Quite possibly the find of the week for me though was this nice turn of the century looking sterling silver brooch. It has a nice maple leaf design, and is marked sterling with three hallmarks. I can't seem to break the code on them, if any body can help me identify them, I would appreciate it, thanks. Well, thanks for looking Everyone, and have a great and safe Thanksgiving, enjoy some football, turkey, and some great family time. Also have a great weekend and HH Everyone! :)

500 silver coins is spectacular. (Even on the East coast) I'm hoping for 30 before the end of the year. That awesome brooch looks very Canadian to me.

Congrats on yet more amazing digging and #500! I need to find a park like that, but not ready to move north and east...yet.

Congrats on 500,an incredible number for western NY.I did 355 6 years ago and I know I will never go so high again with my local parks being depleted by a horde of Minelab swingers over the last 17 years since the Explorer came out.How have you done in past years in your area?

500???
Five hundred???
FIVE HUNDRED???
100*5???
250*2???

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyaaaaammmmm man!

That broach is the bomb tho! Wow! Beautiful!!!

Congrats that’s some crazy silver coin count!!!

I've been detecting for about 7 years now. And except for the first year and a half when I was first learning with my Bounty Hunter Tracker IV, and my Garrett Ace 350, I have been keeping a pretty good pace. I have dug over 350 silver coins for 4 straight years now.

That broach is beautiful but the real accomplishment is that 500th silver coin of the year. Not many people can say they hit that mark. Congrats!

500 hundred is just crazy... :)

There must not be anyone in your area that has ever had a detector or they have no idea how to use it. It's amazing that there are still spots out there like this. I bow to you :)

Wow, looks like you had an awesome week, that site definitely looks like one to continue to work. Congrats.

Congrats on some fantastic finds as usual! Wait, did you say 500 silver coins? That is amazing! I would love to have such a park here, most of the local parks here are built over scrapyards!

Congrats on the finds - I can't make sense of the hallmarks on that brooch. It looks like the Birmingham mark, and sterling mark, but can't find a date letter that looks like that.

Your results are...uh...stupefying? There must have been a lot of drinking, mud wrestling, carnivals, and other annual gatherings in your 1890s park. You, Sir, are a History Finder indeed. Keep it up!

I just found that hallmark on 925-1000.com. Canadian, of course. P.W. Ellis & Co. Of Toronto. 1877 to 1927. Absorbed by Birks in 1928.
What a Beauty, she is!

The Brooch is a fantastic dig and reaching 500 Silver coins for the year .... well Ron there are just not many that can do such numbers. Congrats on simply a fantastic year. Trapper
