Cover for coils

Hey everybody,

Just used my 3D printer to make a cover for the base. Not sure if it was totally necessary, but do you think it would interfere with the coils/signal? I know it is just plastic, so probably not, but didn’t know if anybody had any experience with this. Figured it might make a good guard when out working with the detector too. Thanks in advance!

Would help if I posted some photos...

Some are into these things, others are not.
Should not interfere with any signals, depth is slightly affected but it is so little it is negligible.

If you scrub the ground they can help to protect the coil, if you hover slightly above it it shouldn't matter much.
Some of my coils have them and some don't and I can tell you this...no matter how tight these fit dirt can still get in there so cleaning them out once in awhile is always recommended.

A common prank played on many hunters is where one of their "friends" will take the cover off and put a coin in there like a dime then put it back on.
Hilariously funny...unless it happens to you.

Nice work! Is that a BH Prospector defector? I started with one of those :)

I was religious about a coil cover on my then new Compadré until one day I noticed it was gone! Must have come off in the river only thing I could think happened to it. So I had been using the detector for who knows how long without it and wasn’t going to go and buy a new cover since the coil was no longer virgin.

Appreciate all the input, I mean the coil is already well protected, figured it wouldn't hurt to have a second cover.

Right now it sits in the garage. Going to get some new batteries for it and comb the front yard for metal. Been working on my trucks and random nuts, bolts, small pieces tend to lose their way out there lol. Be a good starting place! May even reduce the chances of getting a flat tire in the driveway.

Nice job on the scuff cover. I wish my 3d printer could print one large enough for mine. Shouldn't cause any issues.
