I was going to order a set of waterproof headphones for the ctx to connect through the 8 pin connector. What would be great if someone could supply a parts list of everything I will need or links. I know peltor muffs are what OBN uses and I can find an array of different peltor muffs, I personally like the xseries look not really sure how I would get the wire over to the other side on those. Videos how to's would be awesome or step by step pictures would be awesome too. Maybe the mods could sticky this post so anyone will be able to find it easy and they can try making there own.

I'm currently working on a headphone build myself. There is not a cut and dry "here's how it's done". You need to do lots of research and build a rough game plan on how your going to do it based on what you see. Contact others on their experiences for questions and try and track down the parts. I will tell you right now though due to not buying in bulk you won't be saving a ton of money building them your self if your going to make a good quality set. The speakers alone are tough to track down depending on what you go with. And adding volume pots is a whole other sizing and style issue and we haven't even gotten to sourcing plugs. For me the journey is part of the fun of the build. Ideas in your head that you figure out how to make real. If you want to go a easier route get the greyghost amphibians and put a CTX fitting on them or have kellyco do it for you. I'm not trying to be rude or tell you not to do it by any means. I hope you do make it happen and I would love to see what you come up with.

Well I have contacted OBN so if anyone can help he is the guy. I make been able to track down the earmuffs, the wire, I have seen the 8 pin connector posted somewhere and the adhesive.

Yes sir your on the right track he is the man for sure. I'm still tracking down parts myself.

Since I'm using the ctx I don't think I will go with the volume knobs. I'm thinking 2 speakers connected by the wire then epoxied to the muffs and maybe with some of the pool noodle material to help dampen the outside sound then the cable going from the headphones to the ctx. Where have you gotten your parts?

eBay, mouser, and digikey so far. I plan on mine being my everyday set both land and water and for my CTX as well. I don't want to switch headphones ever. I hated going from the koss set to my water proof GG. The sounds changed and I had to almost relearn them. I want one set to get used to and be at the top of my game at all times.

I only hunt the beach being only a couple of blocks from the beach.

Yeah I couldn't find a dealer at all that sold their products and luck of the draw found a set on eBay. I think the seller had others to so check it out soon.

I'll have to check it out. I figured I could probably do what I want to do on the headphones for about $60.

 I was in the same boat and figured the same thing. Now I'm $72 in and still have more to order. But my wm10 will be water proof so I'm cordless in the water too buddy!!:D:yes: Going all out and custom.

Sounds like you might have a bit of a custom made problem

All to true! Like I said I enjoy the hunt for parts and info on the project. Then as I see more and more stuff that others have done I add more ideas to my build. All said and done i will still save money though. You figure GG are $175, and a good land set are at least $125. If mine do both and have options that don't exist Im a happy camper. If it weren't for this project winter would suck even more.

then the gel pads, add a nice cushion for the ears, but if in the sun they will only last a few years... http://www.aircraftspruce.com/pages/ps/head_ear/dregel.php

the cross over wire you can get at radio shack, I use a small round type with two wires, 24 gauge. Or speaker wire.

Heyco 3237 fitting for where the coiled wire comes into the headphone cup

speakers I prefer the 2463's but you can shop for some Mousers site, I recommend a very low in put (power rating) of between .10 to .25mw ..anything above that will not be very loud... around 50mm in size.. Ohms .. the 2463's are 150 Ohms and work great
