Not always. I've been out many times hiking and no sign of camps, chips, nothing and BAM there's one. Sometimes a guy just gets lucky to find one where they were hunting miles from any camp.

Nice point. One never knows what they will run across in the hills. Luckily we don't have hogs here, but I always carry a 357. Peace of mind against the possibility of a mountain lion, rattle snake, or badger, and the bonus is people who you may on a slim chance encounter tend to be polite.
