Literally just pulled this from my backyard, along with a 1941 and 1957 Wheatie. Have them soaking now and will try cleaning them up in a few days. Rang up as 12-37/38 on the CTX 3030. Same size as a quarter but just a little thinner. Can anyone identify the coin in this condition? Home was buIlt in 1893, with other homes on the street dating back to the 1830’s. A nickel and quarter added for scale. Thank you in advance.

Could be a US Half Cent. I think they are the size of a quarter. Just an idea. I've never found a Half Cent. Not many of those to be found in my area. Looks like a wreath on the back of it. I'm confident someone will be able to look at it and tell. This forum is great for that.

Could be a token. The 2 cent wreath is close, but doesn't seem spot on to what you have; it's smaller on the 2 cent. Any attempts made to pick the reverse side?

Looks like a 2 cent coin.

I agree much more likely to be a 2 Cent rather than a Half Cent. Here's a picture for reference. I'm not sure it's either though.

Definitely not a two cent piece. I've found a couple and they're smaller than a quarter. They were also made out of higher quality metal, so most come out of the ground looking better than that coin. My guess would a some sort of token.

I don't think it's a half cent. They are much smaller than a quarter....closer to the diameter of a modern nickel.

Identified

After I started cleaning the coin with Andres Pencils, I was able to see enough detail to identify the coin. It is a 1944 Peruvian Dos Centavos. Not what I was hoping for but at least I know what it is.
