Welcome from a fellow Mass digger! While I don't know Springfield very well, I know a website that may help you. Google "Harvard geo spatial library Springfield ma map," and go to the site. Then click on the highlighted reference number and it should bring you to the page you want. Then just play around with it a bit to highlight the area you want on the map on the left hand side you will see the reference number for the map and click on the square box to the right of it. This will overlay a map over some of the areas you might be looking to hunt. Believe the map is from 1830. It won't work everywhere, but just play around with it. Hope it helps, good luck!
