A crying shame!

Found this beautiful pontiled violin flask the other day digging bottles for the first time in many years. Felt good to be digging old glass again, but unfortunately, this was the only real keeper for the day, and its borderline. I normally dont keep any broken bottles, but this is the most intact violin flask I've ever recovered. Just wish It was whole! Thanks for looking, hopefully I'll have more to share once the fall weather rolls in!

That is a shame. I have a rare local amber bitters that has the same kind of damage, it hurts!

is it glass? it broke like a piece of glass but has an odd surface to it.

Its glass, the pontil scar on the bottom is where a rod was attached during the glass blowing process.

I've never even seen or heard of a violin flask. That's a really neat find though!

Most bottle collectors call these violin bottles.

Usually Violin (scroll) flasks are like these:

Now that you mention it, it does seem a little small to be a flask. Possibly perfume or cologne? Happy hunting !
