Have you checked the batteries. They say thats the first thing you should check when your having trouble with your detector.

Yes - check the batteries. Make sure the battery tray is seated; when you push it inside the machine it will stop - continue to push and it will lock into place.

On the other hand, if it squeels endlessly the instant you turn it on (and won't stop), they you'll need to gorund-balance it. (That's what the ground elimination control is for.)

If you're lucky, someone who uses that machine will see the post. (Too many switches and controls for me to handle.)
