The sizing band is what is sometimes used when someone wants to wear a ring that is too big but doesn't want to or cannot have the ring re-sized.

Thanks. A buddy I am helping to get into the hobby found it in his yard yesterday, and I just talked to him on the phone. He said it had a stamp. He called the number 928, but I have him checking again to see if it is a 925 stamp.

Sometimes those ring sizers are gold but when you blew up picture it looks like its flaking.. too bad.

I don't thing it is flaking. The gold-like features on the sizer came out of the ground looking clean without any cleaning. I do see what looks like flaking, and that makes logical sense. It's a tiny amount if it is gold.
Acid test it then.
